Vote for Chile: The country is seeking the title of World’s Leading Destination

If it wins, Chile would defend its titles for World’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination, Best Green Destination and Most Romantic Destination. Voting runs through October 25 at worldtravelawards.com/vote.

Chile is once again leading the nominations for the ‘Tourism Oscars,’ the World Travel Awards, which name the world’s leading tourist attractions by popular vote. This year Chile is defending its wins in the categories of adventure tourism, green destination and most romantic destination, for the Atacama Desert. In addition, Chile has added a new nomination this year. It is competing for World’s Leading Destination for the first time.

Voting for the global World Travel Awards runs through Sunday, October 25 online at www.worldtravelawards.com/vote.

Tourism Undersecretary José Luis Uriarte stated that these nominations are “very good news for the country and send a strong message regarding Chile's great potential for attracting tourists and reactivating this important economic sector once the health conditions allow for it. This is the first time that Chile has been nominated for World’s Leading Tourist Destination. As such, we are inviting everyone to vote for our country and to continue to show the world all of the marvelous things we have to offer.”

For her part, SERNATUR National Director Andrea Wolleter highlighted the fact that winning these new titles would further strengthen Chile’s position in the international context given that “post-pandemic tourism will demand experiences associated with nature and open-air activities. Chile can develop a new type of tourism that considers health safety measures, which will allow us to put our best foot forward when we are able to reactivate national tourism.
