To promote a new version of the Gender Parity Initiative with strategic international partners, the Women and Gender Equity Undersecretary, Carolina Cuevas, held a meeting on Wednesday with acting Foreign Affairs Undersecretary, Raúl Fernández Daza, and the ambassadors of the Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the European Union Delegation.

The Chilean Gender Parity Initiative (IPG Chile) is a public-private partnership that aims to eliminate the obstacles that perpetuate gender gaps in the workforce and promote the participation and progress of women.

IPG Chile was promoted by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the Women and Gender Equity Ministry -currently the executive secretary- and Comunidad Mujer, a civil society organization in charge at the technical level.

During the meeting, Undersecretary Cuevas presented the most important milestones of the initiative, its relevance and the actions that are proposed as part of a renewal plan. The objective is to achieve a sustained cultural transformation in the labor world, with a focus on establishing stable and measurable policies that foster equal opportunities for men and women.

In this regard, the undersecretary highlighted the positive response from the heads of mission from each embassy. “As a ministry, we have worked in collaboration with countries that are benchmarks in terms of inclusive labor and gender equity policies. We believe that this is the way of moving forward, with more and better proposals for a greater participation of women, especially in areas of leadership.

More than 150 different sized companies from various industries have joined the Gender Parity Initiative.
