High-speed and 5G networks to be coordinated for the Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games

Telecommunications Undersecretary Francisco Moreno and the CEO of the Games, Felipe De Pablo, have formed a working group to implement and deploy connectivity in the various sports complexes.

Important digital infrastructure deployment is required for the development and implementation of the Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games. This infrastructure will allow optimal communications from TV transmission links, connectivity for athletes staying in the Olympic Village, communication among volunteers, and internet access for around 1,500 accredited people who will provide global coverage of this sporting event, in addition to all attendees.

For this reason, Telecommunications Undersecretary Francisco Moreno and the CEO of Santiago 2023, Felipe De Pablo, have agreed to form a working group to implement and deploy fiber optic connectivity and 5G coverage in the sports venues and the Pan American and Parapan American Village.

Undersecretary Moreno added, “it is a source of pride for the country to host this world-class sporting event, where telecommunications will be fundamental for its development. For this reason, we have agreed to set up a permanent working group with the Games’ organization, which will allow us to plan and anticipate the multiple challenges that this task entails, thinking about the high-quality connectivity we need inside the sports venues as well as in the Village, which will host more than 7,000 athletes from all over the world.”

In turn, Felipe De Pablo said that “it is essential for us to form this working group in order to respond to the connectivity needs that the country and the Americas will have for the Games. It is key to begin this work, so it is great news to be starting this relationship.”
