Get connected to learn: 7th grade pupils in public primary schools to get laptops

Students will receive the equipment between September and December 2015 and may choose from among four colors: yellow, green, blue and pink.

What does the Get Connected to Learn program consist of?

Get Connected to Learn is presidential initiative aimed at improving the quality of education and learning among public school students by providing a laptop computer, one year of mobile broadband service and educational resources to every 7th grade student enrolled in public schools throughout the country.

Who is eligible for this program?

Students must meet the following requirements to participate in the “Get Connected to Learn” program:

• Be enrolled in 7th grade in a public school.
• Be a regular student in a public school.
• Beneficiaries of the “I Choose my PC” program in earlier years (2013 to 2015) are not eligible.

How do students choose a color?

The computers are available in four colors: yellow, green, blue and pink. Students may choose whichever color they like! If the color a particular student prefers is not available, he or she will be assigned another.

What equipment and services will beneficiaries receive?

Program beneficiaries will receive:

  • An Acer laptop with 4 GB RAM, a 500-GB hard disc and a 13.3-inch screen. Available in yellow, green, blue and pink.
  • Movistar mobile broadband service for 12 months, with a guarantee.
  • The equipment is guaranteed for 12 months.
  • Producto Protegido tracking software.
  • Educational software.
  • A backpack to carry the laptop.

What is the delivery date for the laptops?

The National Board of Student Aid (JUNAEB) will deliver the laptops to students from September to December 2015. Every beneficiary of the “Get Connected to Learn” program will be notified in advance of the date, place and time of delivery.
