Find out details of the international aid that has arrived in Chile to fight the forest fires

South American countries like Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Venezuela, as well as Mexico, Spain and others, have sent brigade members and technical support for the emergency. 

International aid from friendly countries to fight the forest fires has not been long in coming; and the Government’s rapid management of the situation has allowed hundreds of brigade members and technical assistance to arrive from different parts of the world. 

The Spanish government was one of the first to confirm it would be sending cooperation to strengthen the fight against the fires that have affected the regions of central-southern Chile. Support has not stopped coming since the emergency began a week ago.

Spain 
  • 50 soldiers from the Military Emergency Unit (UME). 
  • 6 expert advisors in fighting forest fires. 
  • 38 soldiers from the First Emergency Intervention Battalion. 
  • Drones with 6 pilots from the Transmission Battalion. 
Mexico
  • 300 firefighting specialists.
Argentina
  • 25 brigade members to support the Ñuble Region.
Ecuador
  • 58 brigade members with firefighting equipment.
Colombia
  • 20 firefighters.
  • 4 police units for telecommunications equipment.
  • 2 medical caregivers.
  • 1 liaison and coordination mission head. 
  • Firefighting equipment. 
Venezuela
  • Humanitarian Task Force brigade members.
Brazil
  • 36 brigade members.
  • 6 fire experts from the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources. 
  • 9 pickup trucks with a 600-liter capacity. 
  • 1 material transport truck.
  • 7 air support tanks with a 10,000-liter capacity.
