Chile returns to list of 15 best countries in the world to invest in renewable energies

According to Forbes, the country continues to consolidate its position as a leader in the clean energy industry, driven by strong government participation, natural resources and the use of global partnerships.

The day began with good news for our country, because Chile was ranked, by the prestigious Forbes magazine, in 14th place of the most attractive countries in the world to invest in renewable energies.

This fantastic news reinforces the government strategy to promote clean energies with the ultimate goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

According to the publication, Chile is the best ranked country in the region, surpassing Brazil (18th) and Argentina (30th). In this respect, Forbes pointed out that "in Chile, a debate is being generated by the industry on facilitating a second stage in the development of renewable energy plants and power plants, as well as the Energy Transition project that was presented by the Government in Parliament, an initiative that seeks to address the complexities faced by companies in the sector due to the lack of transmission capacity".

"In this context, it should be mentioned that the country continues to consolidate itself as a leader in the clean energy industry. Driven by strong government involvement, natural resources and the use of global partnerships, Chile has become an attractive destination for foreign investment. In addition, it helps to achieve the nation's goals of 80% renewable energy by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050, for which significant investments in infrastructure are required," says EY, a consulting and auditing firm, in the publication.

Pamela Méndez, EY's Sustainability Services lead partner, quoted by the magazine, stressed that "an example of this is the National Energy Policy that identifies more than 60 goals for 2030, 2035 and 2050 with the objective of achieving carbon neutrality. In turn, it is expected that by 2023, a total of 74 renewable energy projects will come into operation, which would add up to 4,318 MW of installed capacity; moreover, according to the Central Bank, this industry will lead the recovery in 2023".
