Chile maintains its status in the Visa Waiver program

The news was announced by Minister of Foreign Affairs Alberto Van Klaveren, who highlighted the importance of this benefit for Chileans traveling to the United States.

Good news from the United States! Chile will maintain its status in the Visa Waiver program.

The information was confirmed after Chile and the United States signed an implementation agreement in the context of the commitments undertaken through the Visa Waiver Program, which allows for the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the area of border security and immigration.

The purpose of this agreement is to exchange information, particularly in the context of border security and immigration.

It should be noted that the Visa Waiver Program is of great importance as it allows Chilean men and women to enter the United States for tourism, business and transit and to stay for up to 90 days without a visa using an electronic travel authorization that is valid for two years.

"The signing of the implementation agreement is another milestone in bilateral relations between Chile and the United States, which turned 200 years old in 2023. We continue to be part of the small group of countries that are part of the Visa Waiver Program," said Minister of Foreign Affairs Alberto Van Klaveren.

The Visa Waiver is very important to Chile, benefiting close to 350,000 Chilean men and women each year.

We note that the implementation of this agreement in no case implies permanent Visa Waiver Program status, as all of the countries that are part of it undergo periodic review processes.
