Chile gets onboard with electromobility by building the first fully electric bus

The model manufactured in our country has already been authorized by the Transport Ministry to circulate on public roads.

Electromobility is here to stay in Chile, and our government’s efforts to support the development of these means of sustainable transportation continue to bear fruit. For the first time, our country has manufactured an electric bus, which has been authorized by the Transport Ministry to circulate on public roads.

Reborn Electric Motors (REM) was the company responsible for carrying out this milestone for national electromobility. It will soon inaugurate its production plant, which will be the first of its kind in Latin America.

At the event, which was attended by the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz, the development company explained that it has 10 more models developed and ready for approval.

The model presented was the Reborn Electric Motors RE003, a taxi bus model with an autonomy of approximately 200 kilometers (124.3 miles) and a passenger capacity of 24. In the coming months it will begin manufacturing 45-passenger buses.

The bus is equipped with air conditioning, heating and USB ports, and it is important to mention that the model was previously acquired by Codelco, the state-owned copper company, and will be used to transport personnel.
