Chile finishes its participation in the Bolivarian Games Valledupar 2022 with 157 medals

The Chilean delegation with more than 330 athletes finished in fourth place in the official medal standings. 

Once again, athletes on Team Chile achieved notable results and this time the stage was the Bolivarian Games Valledupar 2022 in Colombia, where the Chilean team finished fourth in the official medal standings, with 37 gold medals, 49 silver and 71 bronze.

The multi-sport event brought together athletes from eleven Latin American countries, where Chile was present with a group of more than 330 athletes who competed in a total of 36 sporting disciplines.

Among Team Chile’s multi-medal winners are Daniela Ortega, who won 3 gold medals in table tennis, Miguel Valencia, with 2 gold medals in speed canoeing, and the national rowing team, to mention a few. 

There were a total of 180 men and 163 women representing Chile and the sport with the greatest number of participants was Athletics with 30 participants.

This was Chile’s third time participating in the XIX Bolivarian Games Valledupar 2022. In Trujillo, Peru, in 2013, Chile placed fifth with 44 gold medals and 180 in total, and in Santa Marta, Colombia, in 2017, Chile placed third with 43 gold medals and 154 in total.

This Thursday, Team Chile will begin competing in a new mega-event, the World Games Birmingham 2022, and in October it will participate in the South American Games, a continental event that will be held in Asunción, Paraguay.

The Chilean delegation in Valledupar 2022 was financed by the Sports Ministry through the National Sports Institute (Instituto Nacional de Deportes).
