Juan Carlos Muñoz Abogabir

TRANSPORTATION AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS MINISTER

A civil-industrial engineer who graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with a master’s in industrial engineering and operations research and a doctorate in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California, Berkeley (USA).

Minister Muñoz has had a long academic career, conducting research on transport operations, public transit systems, logistics, and vehicular traffic theory, among other topics.

Before his appointment as minister, he worked as a tenured professor in the Transportation Engineering and Logistics Department at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and as Director of the Centro de Desarrollo Urbano Sustentable, CEDEUS.

He was a member of the expert committee driven by the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry to suggest improvements to public transit and sat on the board of the Metro de Santiago and Metro Regional de Valparaíso (MERVAL).

He is recognized as an international expert in the field of transportation and mobility. He is the author of the book “Bus Rapid Transit and the Restructuring of Public Transit” (2016) and has published numerous papers in Chilean and international journals.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS UNDERSECRETARY

Undersecretary San Martín is a civil-electronics engineer who graduated from the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, with a master’s in information technologies and management from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. 

He has worked primarily in the telecommunications field and has more than 30 years of experience in developing information technology projects, focusing on new data transmission technologies, information security, and technology infrastructure.

Before being appointed undersecretary, he was a professional consultant to the telecommunications undersecretary’s Telecommunications Development Fund.

Jorge Daza

TRANSPORT UNDERSECRETARY

Jorge Daza holds a Degree in Public Administration from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile, a Master’s in People Management from the Universidad Alberto Hurtado and the University of Notre Dame, United States, and a Diploma in International Relations for Economic Integration from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile.

He is a professional with a long career in different areas of public and private management, leading high-performance teams. These include the role of internal auditor in finance control and management that he held in the North Metropolitan Health Service.  

He also served as Community Planning Secretary (SECPLAN) for the municipality of Pedro Aguirre Cerda. In his last role, he was regional secretary of the Public Works Ministry for the Metropolitan Region.
