[ARCHIVO] President Bachelet meets with the UAE Ambassador to Chile

The President officially received from Ambassador Abdullah Mohamed Almaainah a US$5 million donation from the United Arab Emirates to help Chile address the forest fires and their consequences.

This morning, the President of Chile, Foreign Affairs Minister Heraldo Muñoz, and Undersecretary of the Interior Mahmud Aleuy, received the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Abdullah Mohammed Almaainah, at La Moneda Palace.

The donation from the UAE is the largest to date and adds to the funds already sent by the United States, Canada, Germany, the Republic of Korea and the Red Cross Society of China. Meanwhile, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal, France, Spain, Venezuela, Panama, Brazil, Russia and Japan have all sent firefighting specialists, tools and aircraft. This brings the total of foreign aid to US$6,271,918 in financial assistance and 595 specialists and firefighters on the ground.
