We release pilot plan for green hydrogen in mining
The Energy Ministry, via the Green Hydrogen Accelerator, is providing co-financing of almost $147 billion pesos (US$162 million) for the pilot project.
The green hydrogen (GH2) pilot project at Minera San Pedro aims to provide clean energy to the mining camp and will serve as a platform to test and validate new technologies in the hydrogen value chain in mining operations.
This pilot project is a joint initiative between the National Pilotage Center and Minera San Pedro.
The Energy Ministry, via the Green Hydrogen Accelerator, is providing co-financing of almost $147 billion pesos (US$162 million) for the pilot project.
How will the green hydrogen pilot plant work?
The green hydrogen pilot plant will consist of three electrolysers operating towards a daily production of 1 kg H2 / day.
The system will use the energy generated by 22 solar panels located on the roof of the facility, with the potential to produce 3 kg H2 / day in continuous operation.
The green hydrogen pilot plant is located in Minera San Pedro, in Til Til in the Metropolitan Region.
Its location allows the project to serve as permanent enabling infrastructure for piloting green hydrogen technologies in a real mining context.
The green hydrogen pilot plant covers the entire hydrogen value chain, including the generation, storage, conditioning, transportation and consumption of this energy vector.
The plant is also expected to serve as a training center for technicians and professionals in new hydrogen technologies.
The Government’s Green Hydrogen Action Plan
The State’s commitment to the sustainable development of the green hydrogen industry is reflected in the GH2 Action Plan, published this year.
The Government’s GH2 Action Plan includes among its main lines of action the promotion of green hydrogen consumption in local industry.
The promotion of green hydrogen consumption in local industry is established via the Green Hydrogen Accelerator, a program financed by the Energy Ministry and implemented by the Energy Sustainability Industry.
