President Piñera announces bonuses benefiting 1.3 million of the most vulnerable households: “This is significant relief at a time when so many families need it”

The President explained that bonuses averaging Ch$100,000 are to be provided that will benefit around 6 million people.

Speaking in the Santiago district of Maipú this Tuesday, President Sebastián Piñera announced a bill to provide significant economic aid to families in the form of a bonus that will benefit around 6 million Chileans.

“This is significant relief at a time when so many Chilean families need it,” said the President. He was speaking in the municipality of Maipú, where he and Economy Minister Lucas Palacios met with a group of entrepreneurs.

The President highlighted the US$5.5 billion economic reactivation plan that seeks to protect and create 100,000 new jobs and provide a new boost to the owners of micro, small- and medium-sized businesses.

The President also noted that the plan complements the social agenda, which is increasing solidarity pensions by 50%, creating a guaranteed minimum wage, establishing catastrophic health insurance, lowering the price of medications and freezing or reducing the price of electricity, water, tolls and public transportation.

“This is very important to enable us to get our economy going, SMEs selling their products and services and rehiring people, and people feeling calmer and safer,” he said.
