President Piñera participates in WHO World Health Assembly

The international organization recognized Chile’s leadership in promoting a new international treaty that seeks to establish rules for preparing and responding to future pandemics.

The President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, participated in the inauguration of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) World Health Assembly this Monday.

The invitation received by the President represents an acknowledgment of Chile’s leadership in promoting a new international treaty that seeks to establish rules for preparing and responding to future pandemics.

Furthermore, it recognizes Chile’s proper management of the health crisis and its successful COVID-19 mass vaccination program.

President Piñera emphasized the need for this agreement and highlighted the work of the WHO during the pandemic. The organization strengthened coordination between health systems, created information channels and promoted cooperation and solidarity among countries.
