President Piñera highlights economic reactivation and job creation at plant inauguration in Quilicura: “only through work, effort and growth will we improve quality of life and create opportunities for all”

The President emphasized the importance of growth and investment as catalysts to create new jobs. He also highlighted the Government’s contribution through the IFE Laboral (emergency employment income), which will be transferred to nearly 300,000 people on Friday.

Chile’s President, Sebastián Piñera, highlighted the country’s economic recovery and the rise in job creation over recent months, as he inaugurated an industrial plant in Quilicura on Thursday that will create up to 300 new jobs.

“Growth is the best motor, the best instrument to create more and better jobs. It is the most powerful instrument to reduce or defeat poverty, to achieve more equal opportunities and a better quality of life for families,” the President stated during the event. He was accompanied by Economy Minister Lucas Palacios, Labor Minister Patricio Melero and Treasury Undersecretary Alejandro Weber.

The President inaugurated the new facilities of the AB InBev Group, which is expanding in Chile with a US$170 million investment.

During the event, he emphasized the steady growth of the economy, which has strongly expanded over the past seven months and is one of the fastest growing in Latin America. The President also pointed out that 1.3 million jobs have already been recovered.

President Piñera also highlighted Government measures to boost growth and employment, such as the IFE Laboral, which will be transferred to nearly 300,000 people on Friday.

“Work is not only a way to make a living or support our families; it is a way to progress, to gain dignity and integration,” the President said.

“A good government must life its gaze, look beyond next week and beyond the next election. We’re taking all the necessary measures so that economic recovery can persist over time, because we know that only through work, effort and growth will we improve quality of life and create opportunities for all,” he concluded.
