President arrives in Mexico to attend presidential handover

His agenda in the North American country includes a series of meetings with authorities. 

President Gabriel Boric arrived in Mexico City this morning to participate in the inauguration of Claudia Sheinbaum as the new president of the United Mexican States. 

President Boric was received at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport by Julio Berdegué Sacristán, Mexico’s incoming Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Chilean Ambassador to Mexico, Beatriz Sánchez. 

President Gabriel Boric highlighted Mexico’s importance as a strategic partner to Chile: “Building strong international relations is vital at a time when our nations require greater coordination to jointly face challenges such as migration control, security, the defense of democracy and human rights.” 

Mexico is not only a strategic partner but also a friendly country, and it is an honor to represent Chile at such an important moment in its history,” Gabriel Boric, President of Chile. 

President Boric’s agenda today includes a farewell lunch given by the President of the United Mexican States, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, at the National Palace. He also has a bilateral meeting planned with the elected Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada. 

After completing his trip to Mexico on Tuesday, President Boric will immediately travel to the Antofagasta Region for a tour that will last until Thursday, October 3.
