More than 3 million PCR tests results reported since the start of the pandemic

With 34,822 test results reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of tests performed so far amounts to 3,010,713.

During the update on COVID-19 in Chile, Health Minister Enrique Paris highlighted the increase in the number of tests performed. “The figures that we are reporting today reflect the enormous effort made by health workers, who have made it possible to provide the results of more than 34,000 tests within the last 24 hours, bringing the total to more than 3 million tests,” he emphasized.

According to information released on Saturday, September 19, 1,848 new COVID-19 cases were reported, of which 1,230 are symptomatic and 576 asymptomatic. In addition, 42 PCR tests were recorded as positive but not notified.

The total number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Chile is 444,674. Of this total, 14,319 patients are in the active stage of the virus, while 418,101 people have recovered.

With regard to the number of deceased, the Health Statistics and Information Department (DEIS) reported 55 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of fatalities in Chile is 12,254.

To date, 894 people are hospitalized in intensive care units, of whom 667 are receiving mechanical ventilation and 120 are in a critical condition. With regard to the integrated healthcare network, a total of 461 ventilators are available for patients who require them, regardless of the region they are in.

With regard to the laboratory network and diagnostic capacity, the results of 34,822 PCR tests were reported yesterday, bringing to 3,010,713 the total number of tests analyzed nationwide to date.

The number of healthcare residences available is 154 with a capacity of 10,426 spaces. As of today, the number of occupants is 4,627, covering every region of the country.
