Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font: “The installation period is over”

Following his meeting this Tuesday at La Moneda Palace with the ministerial cabinet and representatives of the ruling political parties, the President stated: “Our government is leaving today fortified, with a great sense of urgency and a great sense of unity.”

A meeting took place at La Moneda Palace this Tuesday between President Gabriel Boric Font and the whole of his ministerial cabinet, with the aim of taking stock of the first weeks of government and defining specific lines of work for the coming months.

Representatives of the ruling political parties also participated in the meeting, which took place in the Montt Varas Room. It concluded with a statement in which the President emphasized that this milestone puts an end to the so-called installation period.

“We’ve had a fruitful cabinet session to discuss the direction of government, and we’ve agreed, and this is very clear, that the installation period is over”, the President stated.

A key point of the meeting was to review in detail the measures contained in the Plan Chile Apoya (Chile Supports Plan). The plan includes various proposals to address the rise in the cost of living and to support the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic and the economic crisis.

In this regard, the President indicated: “We are calling on our ministers to have a sense of urgency and for the people to be able to see the priorities of each ministry. In particular, we’ve discussed in detail how the Chile Apoya program can keep growing and in which we highlight the importance that we as a government are giving to addressing the rise in people’s cost of living”.

On taking stock of today’s meeting, the President stated: “Our government is leaving today fortified, with a great sense of urgency and a great sense of unity. We have a great team, and the Chilean people and everyone who lives in Chile should know that it’s the job and responsibility of each of us who is present here to establish concrete support measures to improve their quality of life”.
