Chile wants to keep its crown and seeks to be named South America’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination for the 8th consecutive time at the “Tourism Oscars”

Our country, a habitual winner of these awards, is also looking to consolidate its place as South America’s Most Romantic Destination and win an award in twelve other categories.

The voting is now open to vote for Chile in the latest version of the World Travel Awards, known as the “Tourism Oscars”, which recognize the tourism potential of different countries around the world.

Chile has been nominated in 14 South American categories at this year’s awards. The highlight is the award for Leading Adventure Tourism Destination, as the country is vying to retain the title for the eighth straight year.

Chile is also competing to keep the title of Most Romantic Destination for the Atacama Desert, an area that encompasses the regions of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá, Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimbo.

According to Tourism Undersecretary Verónica Kunze, “Chile has enormous tourism potential and we hope that it will be recognized again this year with this important award. More than 50% of the tourists who visit Chile cite nature tourism as their main motivation. That is why we are working on reactivating the industry. We want to continue being world champions as an adventure and romantic destination, and win the award in many other categories.”

Beatriz Román, Acting National Director of the National Tourism Service (SERNATUR), welcomed these new nominations, as “they keep Chile on the radar of tourists seeking unique experiences. This is a great opportunity to continue promoting to the world our tourism destinations, which are highly attractive due to their nature and culture.”
