Attention! Winter Bonus payments to begin: Find out where to check if you are eligible for this benefit

The Chile Apoya de Invierno (Chile Supports this Winter) bonus will start to be deposited from Friday, August 5. It will benefit more than seven million Chileans to the sum of $120,000 pesos (US$133) and will be given as a single contribution to each member or head of household making the claim. 

Payments will be made by the Social Security Institute (IPS), which will begin by paying a first group of beneficiaries who usually receive benefits from the State; that is, those who receive the Family Allowance, Single Family Subsidy or Mental Disability Allowance. This covers around 4.5 million people.

- Who is entitled to the one-off Chile Apoya de Invierno bonus? 

- The bonus will be given to the following groups of people: 

  • Benefit holders of the Family Subsidy and Family or Maternal Allowance (SUF) on December 31, 2021, whose beneficiaries received respective payment of the allowance on that date. 
  • Beneficiaries of the Winter Bonus on May 31, 2022. 
  • Beneficiaries of the Solidarity Social Security Contribution for Disability (APSI) and the Basic Solidarity Pension for Disability (PBSI) on June 30, 2022, who received this contribution in July 2022. 
  • Beneficiaries of the Mental Disability Allowance (SDM) (Law 20.255, art. 35) on June 30, 2022, who received this contribution in July 2022. 
  • Families using the “Securities and Opportunities” subsystem (Law 20.595) on August 1, 2022, whose members have not been considered in the previous points, and who meet one of the following requirements: accredited disabled people (Law 20.422); people under the care of the Social Development and Family Ministry’s payment program for those with disabilities; people with moderate or severe dependency (RSH health module); special education students or those with permanent special needs in School Integration Programs in establishments recognized by MINEDUC; those over 60 years of age and under 18 years of age. 
  • Households belonging to the most vulnerable 60% on the Social Housing Register (RSH), whose members have not been considered in the previous points, and who meet one of the following requirements: accredited disabled people (Law 20.422); people under the care of the Social Development and Family Ministry’s payment program for those with disabilities; people with moderate or severe dependency (RSH health module); special education students or those with permanent special needs in School Integration Programs in establishments recognized by MINEDUC; those over 60 years of age and under 18 years of age. 

- Who are the first people who will start receiving the bonus from August 5? 

- The first group who will be paid from August 5 onwards will include more than 4,500,000 payments to the following groups: 

  • Benefit holders of the Family Subsidy and Family or Maternal Allowance (SUF) on December 31, 2021. 
  • Beneficiaries of the Winter Bonus 2022. 
  • Beneficiaries of the Solidarity Social Security Contribution for Disability (APSI) or the Basic Solidarity Pension for Disability (PBSI) on June 30, 2022. 
  • Beneficiaries of the Mental Disability Allowance (SDM) on June 30, 2022. 
  • It is estimated that close to 80% of the payments will be made through automatic deposits that the IPS will pay into people’s accounts. 

- When will other eligible people receive the benefit? 

- The second round of payments will be prepared using information provided by the Social Development and Family Ministry, according to the update of the Social Housing Register carried out on August 1. The second payment date -during August- will be informed once updates have been made to the registry. 

- Is it necessary to apply?

- No. This benefit will be paid automatically to those who meet any of the conditions described above. 

- What is the amount?

- The bonus is $120,000 Chilean pesos and will be given as a single contribution to each member or head of household making the claim.
