Nicolás Grau Veloso

ECONOMY, DEVELOPMENT AND TOURISM MINISTER

Minister Grau was born in Concepción in 1983. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. and M.Sc. in economics from the Universidad de Chile.

Until February 2022, he was a professor of economics at the Universidad de Chile and adjunct researcher at the Centro de Conflicto y Cohesión Social (COES).

He was also president of the university’s Student Federation (FECH) in 2006. He is an active member of the Convergencia Social party. He is married to Catalina Amenábar, with whom he has a daughter, Eloísa, and a son, Antonio.

FISHERIES AND AGRICULTURE UNDERSECRETARY

Undersecretary Salas is an attorney with a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a master’s in public policy and management from the Industrial Engineering Department of the Universidad de Chile. He also has postgraduate degrees in political studies from the Universidad de Chile and in markets and labor relations from the ILO/University of Bologna.

He has held senior positions for 14 years in the ministries of Labor and Social Security, Planning (Social Development), the Ministry Secretary General of the Presidency, and the Economy, Development, and Tourism Ministry. He has served as national director and assistant director of public services, division head, and head of programs, and has been the ministerial representative on various boards, councils, committees, and international fora.

He also has experience as a teacher and with third sector organizations.

Javiera Petersen Muga

ECONOMY AND SMALL BUSINESS UNDERSECRETARY

Undersecretary Petersen is an economist with a master’s in economic analysis from the Universidad de Chile, and a master’s in global economic governance and policy from the University of London (England). She is currently a doctoral candidate in innovation and public policy at University College London.

Her research has focused on the creation of a new development model, based on the transformation of production towards an environmentally sustainable, more socially inclusive economy that gives rise to new productive sectors incorporating technology and innovation.

She worked as an external consultant to the World Bank on the Gender Disaggregated Labor Database (GDLD), the main objective of which is to fill a major information gap in global gender statistics.

Subsecretaria de Turismo

Ingeniera comercial de la USACH, con magíster en Gestión Estratégica de Recursos Humanos de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, con diplomados en la Universidad de Barcelona (España) y Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, en gestión del cambio organizacional y gestión de recursos humanos.

Con experiencia en cargos ejecutivos, consultora en empresas privadas, en el Estado, empresas sociales y fundaciones.

Además se ha desempeñado en el sector financiero en el desarrollo de proyectos en tres superintendencias del sector y en aseguradoras a nivel nacional e internacional.
