Aisén Etcheverry Escudero

SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, KNOWELDGE AND INNOVATION MINISTER

Aisén Etcheverry Escudero holds a Degree in Law from the Universidad de Chile and a Master’s in Law from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Over the last 15 years, she has coordinated and led public and private teams and projects at the national and international level in areas related to science, technology and innovation.

She was director of Chile’s National Research and Development Agency (ANID), head of the Secretary General of the Presidency Ministry’s Inter-Ministerial Coordination Division (DCI) and director of the National Council of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation for Development (CTCI).

SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, KNOWLEDGE AND INNOVATION UNDERSECRETARY

Undersecrtary Gainza studied sociology and received her master’s degree in Latin American studies from the Universidad de Chile and her doctorate in Hispanic languages and literature from the University of Pittsburgh.

She has investigated diverse aspects of Latin America’s digital culture and in 2018 she published the book “Narrativas y Poéticas Digitales en América Latina. Producción literaria en el capitalismo informacional” (Digital Poetry and Narratives in Latin America. Literary production in IT capitalism).

She was one of the founders of the Asociación de Investigadores en Artes y Humanidades and was on its board of directors for five years.

She is the daughter of Pedro Gainza and Mirna Cortés. She has three sisters and two children, Nicolás and Eloisa.
