President led opening of first stage of modular pavilion at Curicó Hospital
The President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, accompanied by Health Minister Jaime Mañalich, this afternoon led a ceremony marking the opening of the first stage of the modular pavilion at Curicó Hospital. At the event, the President also delivered 22 new ambulances for health centers throughout the Maule Region. “I am extremely pleased that today we are able to provide the community of this region with 22 ambulances and 4 new trucks for the health network. These ambulances are for the communities of Cauquenes, Chanco, Pelluhue, Romeral, Constitución, Pencahue, Parral, San Rafael, Longaví and Sagrada Familia, as well as the hospitals in Constitución, Cauquenes and Hualañé,” the President said.
The brand-new facilities at Curicó Hospital will expand its capacity by 100 new beds, representing an investment of Ch$1,065,986,720. The President also remarked on the progress made in reconstruction, adding that the help of all Chileans is still needed to fully recover from the earthquake. “For this other half, we need people’s help. We need the unity of all Chileans to help us rebuild better, rather than standing in the way and making things difficult. After all, Chile is the only country we have. There isn’t one Chile for some and another Chile for others: there is just one Chile for all of us,” he stated.
